Here are our current policies regarding purchases, cancellations, and returns.  Brass Arts Unlimited reserves the right to modify or amend its trial and pricing policies at any time.

Please review all of our policies carefully and contact us if you have any questions.

Trial Period for instruments, bells, and mouthpipes

For instruments, bells, and mouthpipes, our trial period is ONE WEEK from receipt of the item.  If returned, we must be notified NO LATER THAN the last day of the trial, and the item must be returned as soon as possible thereafter.  Custom orders sold on trial must have a Return Authorization issued.  Items not shipped and received within ten business days of the end of the trial will be considered sold.  No trial extensions will be allowed.  See Payments, Charges, and Credits, below, for information on returns.

Trial Period for mouthpieces

Mouthpieces may be tried for three days from receipt of the mouthpiece.  No trial extensions are available.  There is a re-stocking fee of $2.00.See Payments, Charges, and Credits, below, for information on returns.

All other returns

All items other than instruments, bells, mouthpipes, and mouthpieces may be returned within three business days only if new and in original condition and in original packaging, if any.

This policy does not apply to certain items which are considered personal (unless sealed in original factory packaging):  reeds, reed guards, instrument swabs, instrument cleaning items , etc.  Personal items are not returnable, unless there is a manufacturing defect.  If you have a question regarding this policy please contact us before returning an item.

Custom order items may not be returned unless covered by a Trial Period.  See Payments, Charges, and Credits, below for more information on receiving refunds for custom order items.  MB Cases: The 2-clarinet case can no longer be ordered through us.  You must order it directly from MB Cases.  The Gentleman's Model bassoon case and all leather cases are all Custom order items which cannot be returned unless there is a manufacturer's defect.

A note about returning cases:  Cases become personal items if you carry your instrument in the case for normal use.  To return a case, you may try the case for fit of your instrument, only.  If the instrument does not fit, or if the features of the case are not acceptable, please return it immediately.  The case must be absolutely new, clean, and dry.  We cannot accept cases that have been used at all.

Sheet music may not be returned, due to copyright considerations, with the exception of our School Support Policy.

See Payments, Charges, and Credits, below, for information on returns.

Orders and Layaways

All orders must be paid in advance, including applicable shipping and sales tax.  No layaways.

An order is considered considered a stock order if the item ordered is normally in store stock with the features and finish specified.  Any other order is a custom order.

Order Cancellations

Custom orders may not be cancelled.  Stock orders may be cancelled.  No order may be cancelled once shipped or delivered to the buyer.

Any order cancelled less than 60 days from the original order date will receive a refund via the original payment method if possible, otherwise, by company check.  Orders cancelled 60 days and later from the order date will incur a 4% cancellation fee.

School Support Policy

For those schools which we service on a regular basis during the academic school year, we offer an extended support policy which includes special discounts on accessories and music, and certain extended return policies.  Discounts are determined at the beginning of each school year, and may even be contractual.  Schools may return standard accessories (except personal items) which have not been used and are in new and sellable condition along with any original packaging for a full refund of the purchase price within one month of delivery.  Special order accessories may not be returnable, and will be noted as such prior to delivery.  Method books which are standard within the school system may be returned for full purchase credit, provided it is in new, unmarked, re-sellable condition.  All other music may only be returned if new, unused, and unmarked and in original packaging, if any, for purchase price credit less a fifteen percent re-stocking fee.

Payments, charges, and credits

All items, including shipping and sales tax, must be paid in full in advance.  No shipments will be made until funds are clear.  We accept cash in US currency, checks in US funds, and most major credit cards.  Online Store payments are accepted through PayPal.  Credit card purchases, especially high value purchases, may require an impression of the card and an original signature.  Trial periods apply, but we may require signed agreements in advance.

Charges will be made on all items which are returned with damage that was not present when the item left Brass Arts Unlimited.  Damage will be assessed as the greater of the market value loss or the cost to repair the item at prevailing rates of labor plus the retail cost of parts.  It is important to insure items when they are shipped back to us!

Charges will also be made for re-stocking fees.  Brass Arts Unlimited reserves the right to waive re-stocking fees at our discretion.  In regards to instrument trials, please contact us regarding re-stocking fees.

Store credit will be issued after all of the above conditions have been satisfied.  Credits will only be issued for items sold by Brass Arts Unlimited.  We reserve the right to request a store receipt or copy of invoice on return of merchandise.

While it cannot be guaranteed, Brass Arts Unlimited attempts always to credit customers' accounts using the same payment method as tendered by the customer.  Checks will be issued for items paid in cash.

Stock items sold ON TRIAL are eligible for refund of credits as soon as possible after the return of the item.

Custom orders that are returned are not eligible for a refund until after the item has been subsequently sold.  Custom orders may only be returned if we are notified in accordance with the trial period policy and the customer is issued a Return Authorization.

Pricing

Our goal is to discount our prices to fair and competitive levels.  Most items which have a published retail price are automatically priced at discount, and our stated prices always reflect the discount.  Sheet music is normally sold at retail price.

We will gladly disclose all our discounts on request, and will cheerfully offer better pricing for large quantity purchases when possible.  Our goal is to provide the best combination of price, service, and quality.
