This album offers four new works for trumpet by internationally-renowned composer Stanley Friedman, written for, and performed by Kyle and Melissa Millsap.
This marks the debut solo recording by trumpeters Kyle Millsap and Melissa Millsap. The album is a collaboration with internationally-renowned composer Stanley Friedman and showcases their versatility through the array of styles presented here. Every piece is a different ensemble, with solo trumpet and organ, trumpet duet and organ, unaccompanied trumpet duet, and finally a trumpet quartet with narrator featured. This is not the stereotypical trumpet album. Kyle Millsap has served as the trumpet professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville since 2013, leading the trumpet program and ensembles, teaching in the jazz studies area, and performing as principal trumpet in the Kingsville Brass Quintet. He is an active performer, composer, arranger, and clinician and has performed and/or presented clinics at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, International Horn Symposium, College Music Society National Conference, National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors National Conference, and Texas Music Educators Association and Tennessee Music Educators Association Conventions. Melissa Millsap serves as Lecturer of Trumpet at Texas A&M University-Kingsville where she teaches applied trumpet, co-directs the trumpet ensembles, and performs as second trumpet in the Kingsville Brass Quintet. She has performed with the Louisville Orchestra, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, and at the International Trumpet Guild Conference, International Horn Symposium, and Texas Music Educators Association Convention. © Copyright - Fundamental Sounds / Fundamental Sounds (888295780032) |
